Today I read of your administration's plan to re-define September 11 as a National Service Day.  Sir, it's time we had a talk.........

During your campaign, Americans watched as you made mockery of our tradition of standing and crossing your heart when the Pledge of Allegiance was spoken. You, out of four people on the stage, were the only one not honoring our tradition.

YES, "We noticed." 

During one of your many speeches, Americans heard you say that  you intended to visit all 57 states. 

We all know that Islam, not America has 57  states.

YES, "We noticed." 

When President Bush leaned over at Ground Zero and respectfully placed a flower on the memorial, you nonchalantly tossed your flower onto the pile without leaning  over.

YES, "We noticed." 

Every time you apologized to other countries for America's position on an issue, we have wondered why you don't share our pride in this great country.  When you have heard foreign leaders berate our country and our beliefs, you have not defended us.  In fact, you insulted the British Crown beyond belief.

YES, "We noticed." 

When your pastor of 20 years, "God-damned America" and said that 9/11 was "America's chickens coming home to roost"  and you denied having heard recriminations of that nature, we wondered how that could be. You later disassociated yourself  from that church and Pastor Wright because it was politically expedient to do so.

When you announced that you would transform America, we wondered why.  With all her faults, America is the greatest country on earth.  Sir, KEEP THIS IN MIND, "if not for   America and the people who built her, you wouldn't be sitting in the White House now." Prior to your election to the highest office in this Country, you were a senator from Illinois and from what we can glean from the records available, not a very remarkable one at all.

YES, "We noticed." 

All through your campaign and even now, you have surrounded yourself with individuals who are basically unqualified for the positions for which you appointed them.  Worse than that, the majority of them are people who, like you, bear no special allegiance, respect, or affection for this country and her traditions.

You are 9 months into your term and every morning millions of Americans wake up to a new horror heaped on us by you. You seek to saddle working Americans with a health care/insurance reform package that, along with cap and trade, will bankrupt  this nation.

YES, "We noticed."

We seek, by protesting, to let our representatives know that we are not in favor of  these crippling expenditures and we are labeled "un-American","racist", "mob".  The tea-parties tried to express these worries.  We wonder how we are supposed  to let you know how frustrated we are. You have attempted to make our protests seem isolated and insignificant. Until your appointment,  Americans had the right to speak  out.

YES, "We noticed."

On September 11, 2001 there were no Republicans or Democrats, only Americans.  And we all grieved together and helped each other in whatever way we could.  The attack on 9/11 was carried out precisely because we are Americans. 

And YES, "We noticed." 

There were many of us who prayed that as a black president you could help unite this nation. In six months you have done more to destroy this nation than the attack on 9/11. You have  failed us, sir.

YES, "We noticed."

September 11 is a day of remembrance for all Americans. You propose to make 9/11 a "National Service Day".  While we know that you don't share our reverence for 9/11, we

pray that history will report your proposal as what it is...a disgrace.

You have made a mockery of our Constitution and the office that you hold. You have embarrassed and slighted us in foreign visits and policy.  You bow in a totally unnecessary and subservient way to kings and emperors.  How gauche.

We have noticed all these things and we promise we will deal with you.  When Americans come together again in a few years, it will be to remove you from office.  In the meantime, we pray for our country's survival.

New Hit Christmas Song

Don't know how often this happens, but thought I would share it just in case ... " 

 It happened at Wal-Mart (Supercenter Store #1279, 10411 N Freeway 45, Houston, TX 77037 a month ago. I bought a bunch of stuff, over $150, & I glanced at my receipt as the cashier was handing me the bags.  I saw a cash-back of $40.  I told her I didn't
 request a cash back & to delete it.  She said I'd have to take the $40 because she couldn't delete it.  I told her to call a supervisor.  Supervisor came & said I'd have
 to take it.  I said NO!  Taking the $40 would be a cash advance against my Discover & I wasn't paying interest on a cash advance!!!!!  If they couldn't delete it then they would have to delete the whole order.  So the supervisor had the cashier delete the whole order & re-scan everything!  The second time I looked at the electronic pad before I signed & a cash-back of $20 popped up.  At that point I told the cashier & she deleted it. The total came out right. The cashier agreed that the electronic pad must be defective. Obviously the cashier knew the electronic pad was defective because she NEVER offered me the $40 at the beginning.  Can you imagine how many people went through before me & at the end of her shift how much money she pocketed?

 Just to alert everyone.  My co worker went to Milford, DE Wal-Mart last week. She had her items rung up by the cashier.  The cashier hurried her along and didn't give her a receipt.  She asked the cashier for a receipt and the cashier was annoyed and gave it to her.  My co worker didn't look at her receipt until later that night. The receipt showed that she asked for $20 cash back.  SHE DID NOT ASK FOR CASH BACK!  My co-worker called Wal-Mart who investigated but could not see the cashier pocket the money.  She then called her niece who works for the bank and her niece told her this. This is a new scam going on. The cashier will key in that you asked for cash back and then hand it to her friend who is the next person in line. 

Please, please, please check your receipts right away when using credit or debit cards!

This is NOT limited to Wal-Mart, although they are the largest retailer so they have the most incidents

I am adding to this. My husband and I were in Wal-Mart North Salisbury and paying with credit card when my husband went to sign the credit card signer he just happen to notice there was a $20 cash back added. He told the cashier that he did not ask nor want cash back and she said this machine has been messing up and she cancelled it. We really didn't think anything of it until we read this email.

  I wonder how many "seniors" have been, or will be, "stung" by this one????

To make matters worse ...THIS SCAM CAN BE DONE ANYWHERE, AT ANY RETAIL OR WHOLESALE LOCATION!!!

Once upon a time the government had a vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert. Congress said "Someone may steal from it at night."  So they created a night watchman position and hired a person for the job. 

Then Congress said, "How does the watchman do his job without instruction?" So they created a planning department and hired two people, one person to write the instructions, and one person to do time studies. 

Then Congress said, "How will we know the night watchman is doing the tasks correctly?" So they created a Quality Control department and hired two people. One to do the studies and one to write the reports. 

Then Congress said, "How are these people going to get paid?" So They& nbsp;created the following positions, a time keeper, and a payroll officer, then hired two people. 

Then Congress said, "Who will be accountable for all of these people?"  So they created an administrative section and hired three people, an Administrative Officer, Assistant Administrative Officer, and a Legal Secretary. 

Then Congress said, "We have had this command in operation for one year and we are $18,000 over budget, we must cutback overall cost." 

So they laid off the night watchman. 

NOW slowly, let it sink in. 

Quietly, we go like sheep to slaughter. 

Does anybody remember the reason given for the establishment of the DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY.... during the Carter Administration? 

Anybody? 

Anything? 

No? 

Didn't t hink so! 

Bottom line. We've spent several hundred billion dollars in support of an agency...the reason for which not one person who reads this can remember! 

Ready?? 

It was very simple...and at the time, everybody thought it very appropriate. 

The Department of Energy was instituted on 8-04-1977.

TO LESSEN OUR DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL.

AND NOW IT'S 2009 -- 32 YEARS LATER -- AND THE BUDGET FOR THIS "NECESSARY" DEPARTMENT IS AT $24.2 BILLION A YEAR. THEY HAVE 16,000 FEDERAL EMPLOYEES AND APPROXIMATELY 100,000 CONTRACT EMPLOYEES; AND LOOK AT THE JOB THEY HAVE DONE! THIS IS WHERE YOU SLAP YOUR FOREHEAD AND SAY, "WHAT WAS I THINKING?" 

Ah, yes -- good ole bureaucracy.

AND, NOW, WE ARE GOING TO TURN THE BANKING SYSTEM, HEALTH CARE, AND THE AUTO INDUSTRY OVER TO THE SAME GOVERNMENT?

I have to agree with the Kahuna on this one.

It is so sad if you worked for years and now are watching your money fade away with all these taxes or lost money in the bank fiascoes. Or if you are young and trying to build a bank account, stocks, etc., maybe you should hide your money under the bed or in that Mason jar buried in the back yard.

Pelosi is on a real power trip. Someone needs to stop her. She listens to no one. Maybe it is just that San Francisco air that makes people weird.

If you have extra money that you want to give away, don’t give it to strangers. Just let me know and I will send you my address!! I will use some of it to come see you and give you a big kiss for it too!!! Now that is a better deal than Nancy Pelosi is offering.

THIS WOMAN IS OUT OF SIGHT NUTS!

Madam speaker Nancy Pelosi wants to put a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits (including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds!) Alas, it is true - all to help the 12 Million Illegal Immigrants and other unemployed Minorities!
     This woman is frightening.
She quotes..' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.'  (I am not rich, are you?)
When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied:
'We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'.'

America as the last man standing

Dear friends,

Thank you very much for inviting me.

I come to America  with a mission. All is not well in the old world. There is a tremendous danger looming, and it is very difficult to be optimistic. We might be in the final stages of the Islamization of Europe. This not only is a clear and present danger to the future of Europe itself, it is a threat to America and the sheer survival of the West. The United States as the last bastion of Western civilization, facing an Islamic Europe.

First I will describe the situation on the ground in Europe. Then, I will say a few things about Islam. To close I will tell you about a meeting in Jerusalem.

The Europe you know is changing.

You have probably seen the landmarks. But in all of these cities, sometimes a few blocks away from your tourist destination, there is another world. It is the world of the parallel society created by Muslim mass-migration.

All throughout Europe a new reality is rising: entire Muslim neighborhoods where very few indigenous people reside or are even seen. And if they are, they might regret it. This goes for the police as well. It's the world of head scarves, where women walk around in figureless tents, with baby strollers and a group of children. Their husbands, or slaveholders if you prefer, walk three steps ahead. With mosques on many street corners. The shops have signs you and I cannot read. You will be hard-pressed to find any economic activity. These are Muslim ghettos controlled by religious fanatics. These are Muslim neighborhoods, and they are mushrooming in every city across Europe. These are the building-blocks for territorial control of increasingly larger portions of Europe, street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, city by city.

There are now thousands of mosques throughout Europe. With larger congregations than there are in churches. And in every European city there are plans to build super-mosques that will dwarf every church in the region. Clearly, the signal is: we rule.

Many European cities are already one-quarter Muslim: just take Amsterdam, Marseill and Malmo in Sweden. In many cities the majority of the under-18 population is Muslim.  Paris is now surrounded by a ring of Muslim neighborhoods. Mohammed is the most popular name among boys in many cities.

In some elementary schools in Amsterdam the farm can no longer be mentioned, because that would also mean mentioning the pig, and that would be an insult to Muslims.

Many state schools in Belgium and Denmark only serve halal food to all pupils. In once-tolerant Amsterdam gays are beaten up almost exclusively by Muslims. Non-Muslim women routinely hear 'whore, whore'. Satellite dishes are not pointed to local TV stations, but to stations in the country of origin.

In  France  school teachers are advised to avoid authors deemed offensive to Muslims, including Voltaire and Diderot; the same is increasingly true of  Darwin. The history of the Holocaust can no longer be taught because of Muslim sensitivity.

In England Sharia courts are now officially part of the British legal system. Many neighborhoods in France are no-go areas for women without head scarves. Last week a man almost died after being beaten up by Muslims in Brussels, because he was drinking during the Ramadan.

Jews are fleeing France in record numbers, on the run for the worst wave of anti-Semitism since World War II. French is now commonly spoken on the streets of Tel Aviv and Netanya,  Israel . I could go on forever with stories like this. Stories about Islamization.

A total of fifty-four million Muslims now live in Europe.  San Diego University recently calculated that a staggering 25 percent of the population in Europe will be Muslim just 12 years from now. Bernhard Lewis has predicted a Muslim majority by the end of this century.

Now these are just numbers. And the numbers would not be threatening if the Muslim-immigrants had a strong desire to assimilate. But there are few signs of that. The Pew Research Center reported that half of French Muslims see their loyalty to Islam as greater than their loyalty to  France . One-third of French Muslims do not object to suicide attacks. The British Centre for Social Cohesion reported that one-third of British Muslim students are in favor of a worldwide caliphate. Muslims demand what they call 'respect'. And this is how we give them respect. We have Muslim official state holidays.

The Christian-Democratic attorney general is willing to accept Sharia in the  Netherlands  if there is a Muslim majority. We have cabinet members with passports from  Morocco  and  Turkey .

Muslim demands are supported by unlawful behavior, ranging from petty crimes and random violence, for example against ambulance workers and bus drivers, to small-scale riots. Paris has seen its uprising in the low-income suburbs, the banlieus. I call the perpetrators 'settlers'. Because that is what they are. They do not come to integrate into our societies, they come to integrate our society into their Dar-al-Islam. Therefore, they are settlers.

Much of this street violence I mentioned is directed exclusively against non-Muslims, forcing many native people to leave their neighborhoods, their cities, their countries. Moreover, Muslims are now a swing vote not to be ignored. I

The second thing you need to know is the importance of Mohammed the prophet His behavior is an example to all Muslims and cannot be criticized. Now, if Mohammed had been a man of peace, let us say like Ghandi and Mother Theresa wrapped in one, there would be no problem. But Mohammed was a warlord, a mass murderer, a pedophile, and had several marriages - at the same time. Islamic tradition tells us how he fought in battles, how he had his enemies murdered and even had prisoners of war executed. Mohammed himself slaughtered the Jewish tribe of Banu Qurayza. If it is good for Islam, it is good. If it is bad for Islam, it is bad.

Let no one fool you about Islam being a religion. Sure, it has a god, and a here-after, and 72 virgins. But in its essence Islam is a political ideology. It is a system that lays down detailed rules for society and the life of every person. Islam wants to dictate every aspect of life. Islam means 'submission'. Islam is not compatible with freedom and democracy, because what it strives for is Sharia. If you want to compare Islam to anything, compare it to communism or national-socialism, these are all totalitarian ideologies.

Now you know why Winston Churchill called Islam 'the most retrograde force in the world', and why he compared Mein Kampf to the Quran. The public has wholeheartedly accepted the Palestinian narrative, and sees  Israel  as the aggressor. I have lived in this country and visited it dozens of times. I support  Israel . First, because it is the Jewish homeland after two thousand years of exile up to and including Auschwitz, second because it is a democracy, and third because Israel is our first line of defense.

This tiny country is situated on the fault line of jihad, frustrating Islam's territorial advance. Israel is facing the front lines of jihad, like Kashmir, Kosovo, the Philippines, Southern Thailand, Darfur in Sudan, Lebanon, and Aceh in Indonesia.  Israel is simply in the way. The same way West-Berlin was during the Cold War.

The war against  Israel  is not a war against  Israel . It is a war against the West. It is jihad.  Israel  is simply receiving the blows that are meant for all of us. If there would have been no  Israel , Islamic imperialism would have found other venues to release its energy and its desire for conquest. Thanks to Israeli parents who send their children to the army and lay awake at night, parents in Europe and America can sleep well and dream, unaware of the dangers looming.


Many in Europe argue in favor of abandoning Israel in order to address the grievances of our Muslim minorities. But if Israel were, God forbid, to go down, it would not bring any solace to the West. It would not mean our Muslim minorities would all of a sudden change their behavior, and accept our values. On the contrary, the end of Israel would give enormous encouragement to the forces of Islam. They would, and rightly so, see the demise of Israel as proof that the West is weak, and doomed. The end of Israel would not mean the end of our problems with Islam, but only the beginning. It would mean the start of the final battle for world domination. If they can get Israel, they can get everything. So-called journalists volunteer to label any and all critics of Islamization as a 'right-wing extremists' or 'racists'. In my country, the Netherlands, 60 percent of the population now sees the mass immigration of Muslims as the number one policy mistake since World War II. And another 60 percent sees Islam as the biggest threat. Yet there is a danger greater danger than terrorist attacks, the scenario of  America  as the last man standing. The lights may go out in Europe faster than you can imagine. An Islamic Europe means a Europe without freedom and democracy, an economic wasteland, an intellectual nightmare, and a loss of military might for America - as its allies will turn into enemies, enemies with atomic bombs. With an Islamic Europe, it would be up to America alone to preserve the heritage of Rome, Athens and Jerusalem.


Dear friends, liberty is the most precious of gifts. My generation never had to fight for this freedom, it was offered to us on a silver platter, by people who fought for it with their lives. All throughout  Europe American cemeteries remind us of the young boys who never made it home, and whose memory we cherish. My generation does not own this freedom; we are merely its custodians. We can only hand over this hard won liberty to Europe 's children in the same state in which it was offered to us. We cannot strike a deal with mullahs and imams. Future generations would never forgive us. We cannot squander our liberties. We simply do not have the right to do so.

I received this today; (DID JESUS GIVE US THE NAME OF THE ANTICHRIST) you can Google it and my guess is it is going to fly a lot in the next couple of days. I urge you to remember that Barack and Obama are common names in the Middle East. Kind of like our Smith and Jones. The Bible is complicated and can be confusing and have a lot of different meanings especially when being translated in different languages. I have really gotten on the nerves of many ministers as I tried to ask questions that don’t have a definite answer!!  Did you know there are two stories of the Garden of Eden? Also if God created Adam and Eve and they had children but where did all the other people come from? My advice is to keep yourself believing in whatever way you do (I do pray it is the Trinity) and not to get to upset about this.

As for Barack Obama I do not like his politics. I think there is some stench of corruptness about him. I think he has more than a casual relationship with many corrupt people. I think he knows more about ACORN than he does rap singers and should comment on ACORN and not bother with calling Kanye West a jackass, even though he was to that cute little Taylor Swift. If you believe Obama doesn’t know much about ACORN and their organization, well I got a bridge in Brooklyn you might want to buy!!

However, on the other hand from what we have been led to believe so far Obama is a family mans that loves his wife and children. For me that says a lot. I think he is caught up in his own power. I would like to see him and all the rest of the cattle in D.C. govern for what is best for the majority of the people so we could live a good life by earning it. I want to see morals back in our Country.

I am also sick of the word racism. If you disagree with someone of a different race, it CAN be simply because you disagree with their opinion.  I think if you are going to be a grown up and work in D.C. you should be an ADULT.

I just happen to have a Strongs Hebrew/Chaldee(Aramaic)/and Greek dictionary in my personal library. I checked out what this guys says, the words in the Hebrew/Greek dictionary, against these words in my Bible. It is what it is…..decide for yourself.

Even if you are a non-believer, This is defiantly quite interesting if not down-right scary. More than coincidence? Maybe.

Older and more prescription dependent codgers will garner the highest amounts. Special "Bonuses" will be paid for those submitting codgers in targeted groups, such as smokers, alcohol drinkers, persons 10 pounds over their government prescribed weight, and any member of the Republican Party.

Smaller bonuses will be given for codgers who consume beef, soda, fried foods, potato chips, lattes, whole milk, dairy products, bacon, or Girl Scout Cookies.

All codgers will be rendered totally useless via toxic injection. This will insure that they are not secretly resold or their body parts harvested to keep other codgers in repair.

Most of us know this but received this today from a veteran. He usually just sends me jokes but guess this got under his skin. During his time in the Army and Navy we were not at war but know he would have been proud to fight for his Country if we had been. Still 8 years of service is not to be sneezed at. Now how long did obama serve anywhere, any time any place???? I still think a sitting president should have to have served some type of military service. Bad press, including major mockery of the plan by comedian Jon Stewart, led to President Obama abandoning his proposal to require veterans carry private health insurance to cover the estimated $540 million annual cost to the federal government of treatment for injuries to military personnel received during their tours on active duty. The President admitted that he was puzzled by the magnitude of the opposition to his proposal.

"Look, it's an all volunteer force," Obama complained. "Nobody made these guys go to war. They had to have known and accepted the risks. Now they whine about bearing the costs of their choice? It doesn't compute.." "I thought these were people who were proud to sacrifice for their country, "Obama continued. "I wasn't asking for blood, just money. With the country facing the worst financial crisis in its history, I'd have thought that the patriotic thing to do would be to try to help reduce the nation's deficit. I guess I underestimated the selfishness of some of my fellow Americans."

Please pass this on to everyone including every vet and their families whom you know.

Let's face it - English is a crazy language. There is no egg in eggplant, nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple.

Sometimes I think all the English speakers should be committed to an asylum for the verbally insane. In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell?

How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which, an alarm goes off by going on.

English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

There is a two-letter word that perhaps has more meanings than any other two-letter word, and that is 'UP.'

It's easy to understand UP, meaning toward the sky or at the top of the list, but when we awaken in the morning, why do we wake UP? At a meeting, why does a topic come UP? Why do we speak UP and why are the officers UP for election and why is it UP to the secretary to write UP a report?

We call UP our friends. And we use it to brighten UP a room, polish UP the silver; we warm UP the leftovers and clean UP the kitchen. We lock UP the house and some guys fix UP the old car.. At other times the little word has real special meaning. People stir UP trouble, line UP for tickets, work UP an appetite, and think UP excuses. To be dressed is one thing, but to be dressed UP is special.

And this UP is confusing: A drain must be opened UP because it is stopped UP. We open UP a store in the morning but we close it UP at night.

We seem to be pretty mixed UP about UP! To be knowledgeable about the proper uses of UP, look the word UP in the dictionary. In a desk-sized dictionary, it takes UP almost 1/4th of the page and can add UP to about thirty definitions. If you are UP to it, you might try building UP a list of the many ways UP is used. Harry Truman was a different kind of President.  He probably made as many important decisions regarding our nation's history as any of the other 42 Presidents. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on what he did after he left the White House.

The only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in Independence, Missouri. His wife had inherited the house from her mother and other than their years in the White House, they lived their entire lives there.

When he retired from office in 1952, his income was a U.S. Army pension reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an 'allowance' and, later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.

After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove home to Missouri by themselves. There were no Secret Service following them.

When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating, "You don't want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn't belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it's not for sale."

She has a friend who is a receptionist in a church in a high risk area who was concerned about someone coming into the office on Monday to
rob them when they were counting the collection.  She asked the local police department about using pepper spray and they recommended to her that she get a can of wasp spray instead.

The wasp spray, they told her, can shoot up to twenty feet away and is a lot more accurate, while with the pepper spray they have to get too close to you and could overpower you.  The wasp spray temporarily blinds an attacker until they get to the hospital for an antidote.

She keeps a can on her desk in the office and it doesn't attract attention from people like a can of pepper spray would. She also keeps one nearby at home for home protection.  You could also keep it in your car and it would not be illegal.

Thought this was interesting and might be of use...a lot cheaper buying wasp spray then paying a hospital bill after being mugged...

If this is not enough of a scare tactic then you can tune in to Fox. Network News. They have been accused of using fear factor to get their point across of this health care plan. I don’t think so. I think they are just reporting the news. They do have their opinions and they are upfront and honest when reporting the news as to fact and opinion. Research it yourself and then YOU decide. Or you can fly by the seat of your britches on blind faith and believe those who support the bill. It all sounds shady to me. Too many people are speaking about it, like this article.

I do agree we need some changes in health care, mostly the cost issue. I don’t support this plan as this bill is also full of pork and other things having nothing to do with health care. Since Health care is such a big problem, why not write a bill that is ONLY about health care? Then it might be like five pages long as opposed to one thousand plus.

These people support abortion and euthanasia but not military conflict? Why? Because babies and old people don’t fight in wars? Check your age and health and see how many more years you have before this will effect you. No Kool-Aid for me, thank you very much! Besides as a Senior citizen, I am probably packin’ some heat and could be more dangerous to your health than a pack of cigarettes!! We sure do look dangerous with our raised voices, wheelchairs and walkers. Watch out for our frowns and we could hit you with a loaded Depends under garment!!

THE ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE OBAMACARE

As a physician who has authored books on preventative health care, I was given the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at a Congressional Dinner at The Capitol Building in Washington last Friday (7/17). 

The presentation was entitled Health Care Reform, The Power & Profit of Prevention, and I was gratified that it was well received. 
In preparation for the presentation, I read the latest version of "reform" as authored by The Obama Administration and supported by Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid. Here is the link to the 1,018 page document:

Let me summarize just a few salient points of the above plan. First, however, it should be clear that the same warning notice must be placed on The ObamaCare Plan as on a pack of cigarettes: Consuming this product will be hazardous to your health.

The underlying method of cutting costs throughout the plan is based on rationing and denying care. There is no focus on preventing health care need whatever. The plan's method is the most inhumane and unethical approach to cutting costs I can imagine as a physician. 

The rationing of care is implemented through The National Health Care Board, according to the plan. This illustrious Board "will approve or reject treatment for patients based on the cost per treatment divided by the number of years the patient will benefit from the treatment."

Translation.....if you are over 65 or have been recently diagnosed as having an advanced form of cardiac disease or aggressive cancer.....dream on if you think you will get treated......pick out your coffin.

Oh, you say this could never happen? Sorry..... this is the same model they use in Britain .     

The plan mandates that there will be little or no advanced treatments to be available in the future. It creates The Federal Coordinating Council For Comparative Effectiveness Research, the purpose of which is "to slow the development of new medications and technologies in order to reduce costs." Yes, this is to be the law.

The plan also outlines that doctors and hospitals will be overseen and reviewed by The National Coordinator For Health Information and Technology. This "coordinator" will "monitor treatments being delivered to make sure doctors and hospitals are strictly following government guidelines that are deemed appropriate." It goes on to say....."Doctors and hospitals not adhering to guidelines will face penalties." 

According to those in Congress, penalties could include large six figure financial fines and possible imprisonment. 
So according to The ObamaCare Plan....if your doctor saves your life you might have to go to the prison to see your doctor for follow -up appointments. I believe this is the same model Stalin used in the former Soviet Union . 

Section 102 has the Orwellian title, "Protecting the Choice to Keep Current Coverage." What this section really mandates is that it is illegal to keep your private insurance if your status changes - e..g., if you lose or change your job, retire from your job and become a senior, graduate from college and get your first job. Yes, illegal.

When Mr. Obama hosted a conference call with bloggers urging them to pressure Congress to pass his health plan as soon as possible, a blogger from Maine referenced an Investors Business Daily article that claimed Section 102 of the House health legislation would outlaw private insurance.

He asked: "Is this true? Will people be able to keep their insurance and will insurers be able to write new policies even though H.R. 3200 is passed?" Mr. Obama replied: "You know, I have to say that I am not familiar with the provision you are talking about."

Then there is Section 1233 of The ObamaCare Plan, devoted to "Advanced Care Planning." After each American turns 65 years of age they have to go to a mandated counseling program that is designed to end life sooner.

This session is to occur every 5 years unless the person has developed a chronic illness then it must be done every year. The topics in this session will include, "how to decline hydration, nutrition and how to initiate hospice care." It is no wonder The Obama Administration does not like my emphasis on Prevention.

For Mr. Obama, prevention is the "enemy" as people would live longer.

I rest my case. The ObamaCare Plan is hazardous to the health of every American.

After I finished my Capitol Hill presentation, I was asked by a Congressman in the question-answer session:

"I'll be doing a number of network interviews on the Obama Health Care Plan. If I am asked what is the one word to describe the plan - what should I answer." 

The answer is simple, honest, direct, analytical, sad but truthful. I told him that one word is FASCIST.

Then I added, "I hope you'll have the courage to use that word, Congressman. No other word is more appropriate."

As sent to me by a friend, a letter to Senator Lugar of Indiana. I found myself having to reread much of this and sometimes getting lost in the clarity of the statements. I can only imagine what it must be like to read a thousand pages of the Health Care Reform. That may explain why some Congress members have not read every word. How can they vote if they don’t know the facts? Easy. You are either  a Republican or Democrat in D.C., with the exception of a few.

I don’t want universal health care or “free” health care.  After my cousin that lives in Canada told me how it really is there, I don’t care to have that type of health care here. Can you imagine having to wait four months for a MRI to see if you have a brain tumor or not? She did.

I do think something should be done about the cost of prescription drugs. We have found it necessary to buy some of our prescription medication from a company in Canada. It is a matter of money and /or take the medication or not. These drugs do not always come from Canada . In fact few do. Most come from Europe. One prescription came from Florida and was more than 50% cheaper than from my local pharmacy. This does not make any sense to me. If a company from Canada can do this, why can’t the pharmacies in the U.S. do it or just match the price of generics or the cost from the Canadian countries? Money. It is all about the money. The pharmaceutical companies make big bucks and don’t want to quit making big bucks. Living in a community that has a local Eli Lilly company, I personally know some families that work there. The only way they are going to be hurting is in the taxes they are going to have to pay if Obama gets his way. They make a very good living right now.

I now must make my own phone calls to our representatives in Indiana. I encourage you to voice your opinion to those in your state.

LETTER FROM SENATOR LUGAR'S STAND ON OBMA HEALTH CARE REFORM

Dear Mr. Rogers:

Thank you for contacting me with your views on health care reform.  I share many of your concerns.  

I would like to share with you a statement that I made regarding the health reform debate in Congress:

"A majority of the Members of Congress share President Obama's humane goal that millions more Americans might enjoy health insurance coverage and that medical care to all Americans might be substantially improved.  For the moment, however, President Obama and the Congress must recognize that the overwhelming demand of most Americans is that presidential and congressional leadership should focus each day on restoration of jobs, strengthening of housing opportunities, new growth in small business and large industries, and banks that are not only solvent but confident of normal lending.  In essence, the task facing national leadership is truly monumental.  A national and international recession has not ended and many economists predict that unemployment in the  United States will grow in coming months.

The President and the current Congress have come into office in the midst of a fiscal year that has already suffered a budget deficit of $1.086 trillion with a final deficit for fiscal 2009 predicted around $1.8 trillion.  The appropriation bills that the Congress is considering, and that will make up the next fiscal year's expenditures, are predicted to result in another annual deficit of more than $1 trillion.  In the first nine months of this fiscal year, Medicaid spending has increased by 23 percent to $186 billion.  Spending on food stamps has increased 36.8 percent to $40 billion.  Unemployment benefits have increased 165 percent to $77 billion.  The current budget deficit can be equated at $8,500 per American family with similar spending projected ahead for the coming year.

Republicans and Democrats may feel that passing comprehensive health legislation before the summer recess or adjournment in the fall is crucial to the success or failure of the Obama administration and/or party leadership in the Congress.

But I would suggest that successful leadership will be defined, now and historically, by success in bringing a horrendous economic recession to an end, bringing new strength to our economy, and providing vital leadership in international relations as we hope to bring conflicts under control and in some cases, to conclusion.

I appreciate that President Obama has strongly argued that comprehensive health care legislation is an important component to reducing federal deficit spending.  He has contended that failure to pass this legislation will increase deficits now and for many years to come.  I disagree with the President.

After the economic recession in our country comes to a conclusion, a high priority may be extension of health insurance coverage and reform of many health care practices.  When such changes occur, they are likely to be expensive and Americans will need to debate, even then, their priority in comparison to many other national goals.  One reason why health care is likely to remain expensive is that major advances in surgical procedures, prescription drugs, and other health care practices have prolonged the lives of tens of millions of Americans and improved the quality of those additional years.  The Washington Post, in a front-page story on July 26, 2009, mentioned that "the fight against heart disease has been slow and incremental.  It's also been extremely expensive and wildly successful."  Americans should not take for granted all of the advances in health care that have enriched our lives, but we sometimes forget that we require and even pray for much more medical progress in years to come, which is likely to be expensive.

After the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office reported that current legislative proposals might increase health costs by more than $1 trillion during the next ten years, several Members of Congress have suggested new forms of taxation, reduction of payments to doctors and hospitals, and curtailment of certain types of insurance coverage.  These and other suggestions may temporarily bring about cost reduction but will also have some after-effects in the overall economy.  In fact, strong financial incentives may be needed to enlist men and women to enter the medical field.  Failure to enlist a sufficient number of doctors could lead to rationing of service and longer lines to find someone who will give humane attention.

In the meanwhile, it is possible that the President and Members of Congress might find some inexpensive, incremental improvements that could result in a greater number of Americans being served through health insurance and more efficiently operating health care institutions.  The strong desire that most of us have to continue discussing these issues and make improvements need not be postponed even as President Obama and the Congress strive for victory over a devastating national economic recession.

Because our federal spending deficits have risen so much and are predicted to rise even more, all substantive discussions on health care and other important issues will be conducted during many years of planning and, finally, decisive action to reduce deficit spending and preserve the value and integrity of the dollar as we continue to borrow hundreds of billions of dollars in the form of U.S. Treasury Bonds sold to governments and citizens of other countries.  They, too, are counting on the integrity of our dollar and our financial system to preserve the value of their financial reserves.

Starting with President Obama and extending to all Members of Congress, we wish that we had inherited a neutral, peaceful playing field.  We have not been so fortunate.  Our responsibility now is to recognize the extraordinary financial tragedy that has befallen our country and to recognize the unprecedented opportunity that we have to stop the momentum of that tragedy.  We must provide valid hope of constructive vision, idealism, and change in the future.  I look forward to working with the President and my colleagues to tackle first things first."

2. What if I had told you that within Barack Obama's first 100 days in office the federal government would be the largest shareholder in two of the US Big-Three automakers: Ford, GM, and Chrysler? That the government would kick out the CEO's of these companies and appoint hand-picked executives with zero experience in the auto industry and that executive compensation would be determined, not by a Board of Directors, but by the government?

What if I had told you that Barack Obama would appoint 21 Czars, without congressional approval, accountable only to him, not to the voters, who would have control over a wide range of US policy decisions. That there would be a Stimulus Accountability Czar, an Urban Czar, a Compensation Czar, an Iran Czar, an Auto Industry Czar, a Cyber Security Czar, an Energy Czar, a Bank Bailout Czar, and more than a dozen other government bureaucrats with unchecked regulatory powers over US domestic and foreign policy. 

Would you have said, "Cmon that will never happen in America." 


4. What if I had told you that the federal deficit would be $915 billion in the first six months of the Obama presidency - with a projected annual deficit of $1.75 trillion - triple the $454.8 billion in 2008, for which the previous administration was highly criticized by Obama and his fellow Democrats. That congress would pass Obama's $3.53 trillion federal budget for fiscal 2010. That the projected deficit over the next ten years would be greater than $10 trillion. 

Would you have said,  "Cmon that will never happen in America."  


5. What if I had told you that the Obama Justice Department would order FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high-value detainees captured on the battlefield and held at US military detention facilities in Afghanistan. That Obama would order the closing of the Guantanamo detention facility with no plan for the disposition of the 200-plus individuals held there. That several of the suspected terrorists at Guantanamo would be sent to live in freedom in Bermuda at the expense of the US government. That some of our returning US veterans would be labeled terrorists and put on a watch list  

Would you have said, "Cmon that will never happen in America."  


6. What if I had told you that the federal government would seek powers to seize key companies whose failures could jeopardize the financial system. That a new regulatory agency would be proposed by Obama to control loans, credit cards, mortgage-backed securities, and other financial products offered to the public.  

Would you have said, "Cmon that will never happen in America."  


7. What if I had told you that Obama would travel to the Middle East, bow before the Saudi king, and repeatedly apologize for America's past actions. That he would travel to Latin America where he would warmly greet Venezuela's strongman Hugo Chavez and sit passively in the audience while Nicaraguan Marxist thug Daniel Ortega charged America with terrorist aggression in Central America.  

Would you have said, "Cmon that will never happen in America."  


8. Okay, now what if I were to tell you that Obama wants to dismantle conservative talk radio through the imposition of a new "Fairness Doctrine." That he wants to curtail the First Amendment rights of those who may disagree with his policies via internet blogs, cable news networks, or advocacy ads. That most major network television and most newspapers will only sing his phrases like state-run media in communist countries? 

Would you say, "Cmon that will never happen in America."  


9. What if I were to tell you that the Obama Justice Department is doing everything it can to limit your Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms. That the federal government wants to reinstate the so-called assault weapons ban which would prohibit the sale of any type of firearm that does not require the shooter to pull the trigger every time a round is fired. That Obama's Attorney General wants to eliminate the sale of virtually all handguns and ammunition, which most citizens choose for self-defense.. 

Would you say, "Cmon that will never happen in America." 


10. What if I were to tell you that the Obama plan is to eliminate states rights guaranteed by the Tenth Amendment and give the federal government sweeping new powers over policies currently under the province of local and state governments and voted on by the people. That Obama plans to control the schools, energy production, the environment, health care, and the wealth of every US citizen. 

Would you say, "C'mon, that will never happen in America." 


11. What if I were to tell you that the president, the courts, and the federal government have ignored the US Constitution and have seized powers which the founders of our country fought to restrict. That our last presidential election may have been our last truly free election for some time to come. That our next presidential election may look similar to the one recently held in Iran. (And maybe under review by ACORN.) 

I know - I know what you will say. That will never happen in America. 


Hopefully you realize the significance of taking the census away from the Commerce Department and placing it under the White House, where Acorn has been given broad authority to manage it.
If we don't do everything in our power to stop this madness in 2010 and 2012, may God have mercy on our souls. Pass this on to every freedom loving American you can.

I had a neighbor who had bought a new pickup.  I got up very early one Sunday morning and saw that someone had spray painted red all around the sides of this beige truck (for some unknown reason).  I went over, woke him up, and told him the bad news.  He was very upset and was trying to figure out what to do probably nothing until Monday morning, since nothing was open.

Another neighbor came out and told him to get his WD-40 and clean it off.  It removed the unwanted paint beautifully and did not harm his paint job that was on the truck.  I'm impressed! WD-40 who knew?  'Water Displacement #40'.  The product began from a search for rust preventative solvent and de greaser to protect missile parts.  WD-40 was created in 1953 by three technicians at the San Diego Rocket Chemical Company.  Its name comes from the project that was to find a 'water displacement' compound.  They were successful with the fortieth formulation, thus WD-40.  The Convair Company bought it in bulk to protect their atlas missile parts.   

Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40 that would hurt you.   When you read the 'shower door' part, try it.  It's the first thing that has ever cleaned that spotty shower door.  If yours is plastic, it works just as well as glass. It's a miracle!  Then try it on your stove top..... Voila!  It's now shinier than it's ever been. You'll be amazed..

This is part of an email from my cousin that lives in Canada. Now you can read the truth from someone that lives there and not in any political office or you can believe IMHO those lying democrats led by the mistaken great Obama. You sure can quote me on the health care in Canada!  Everyone thinks it is so wonderful, well they have to be nuts.  The doctors are very good and know their stuff, they are just over worked and underpaid.  Our little hospital down the road is closed once or twice a week because no doctors to work the emergency room, guess that just means don't cut yourself bad or have a heart attack on those days or get in a car accident, and actually most things in it have been closed up, we are able to get blood tests there, it's mostly a glorified waiting place for old people to be put into nursing homes that are full.  There is never a bed if someone needs to stay the night, they ship them up the road 40 miles (and a lot of times there are no beds there) where we all have to go for most tests etc.  I've waited up to 11 months for an MRI, they was looking for a benign brain tumor - think that ain't stressful.  Should you have a heart attack there are people waiting for 2-3 months before their surgery, you wait about 3-5 months for a cat scan or ultra sound and a cousin's son just tore his achilles tendon and had to wait almost 12 days for that surgery.  It's crazy, don't let anyone tell you
how "Wonderful" Canada's Health care system is.  That is crap! A good part of the problem is the doctors are getting older and there aren't enough young ones to replace them.  Up here they only allow so many medical students per year and it doesn't begin to cover the doctors retiring.  We are starting to see nurse/practitioners in the areas.

No offense to anyone sending, but when I get emails like this I like to research it to see if it is a fact or rumor. This one has me stumped. I have Googled, Snopes and Truth or Fiction and still don't know the answer. The accusations are definitely there. It slants toward the truth but no one can quite prove it. Now if I was in Obama 's shoes I would clear it up and produce the proof. However some people feel they don't have to prove anything and you should just take what they say as gospel. It appears Obama is one of those. I keep thinking where there is smoke, there is fire. If this is true, he has no right being the POTUS. One interesting thing I did read was for awhile Biden was the President. Remember the words the Chief Justice Roberts and/or Obama misstated? That second swearing should have been public, in my opinion. Before that second swearing in as I understood this, Biden was the POTUS. If brains smarter than mine want to read this and find the real answer (not an opinion) let me know. I don't feel it should be swept under the rug. It does matter as our lives and the life of this Country is in Obama's hands.

For a guy who is as young as Obama together with our technological record keeping why are there so many unanswered questions about his past?  For instance:  Was his mother ever married to his father?  Was he born in Kenya?

What were his grades in any of his colleges?  Where did he get the down payment on his $2mm home?  Who paid for his Columbia and Harvard educations? Why did his connections to so many shady characters emerge so late in his campaign?  And of course, his trip to Pakistan with some mysterious people and the mystery of the trip's purpose. Extremely Interesting

This just doesn't go away and for good reason it seems!... and this time some good questions.

While  I've little interest in getting in the middle of the Obama birth issue, Paul Hollrah over at FSM did so and found one simple question:

What passport did he use when he was shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and Karachi?
So how did a young man who arrived in New York in early June 1981, without the price of a hotel room in his pocket, suddenly come up with the price of a round-the-world trip just a month later?

And once he was on a plane, shuttling between New York, Jakarta, and Karachi, what passport was he offering when he passed through Customs and Immigration?

The American people not only deserve to have answers to these questions, they must have answers.  It makes the debate over Obama's citizenship a rather short and simple one.

Q:  Did he travel to Pakistan in 1981, at age 20?
A : Yes, by his own admission.

Q:  What passport did he travel under?
A:  There are only three possibilities.
   1) He traveled with a U.S. Passport,
   2) He traveled with a British passport, or
   3) He traveled with an Indonesia passport.

Q: Is it possible that Obama traveled with a U.S. Passport in 1981?
A: No. It is not possible.  Pakistan was on the U.S.  State Department's "no travel"  list in 1981.

Conclusion:
When Obama went to Pakistan in 1981 he was traveling either with a British passport or an Indonesian passport.  If he were traveling with a British passport that would provide proof that he was born in Kenya on August 4, 1961, not in Hawaii as he claims.  And if he were traveling with an Indonesian passport that would tend to prove that he relinquished whatever previous citizenship he held, British or American, prior to being adopted by his Indonesian step-father in 1967.

Whatever the truth of the matter, the American people need to know how he managed to become a "natural born" American citizen between 1981 and 2008.

Given the destructive nature of his plans for America, as illustrated by his speech before Congress and the disastrous spending plan he has presented to Congress, the sooner we learn the truth of all this, the better.

If you don't care that Your President is not a natural born Citizen and in violation of the Constitution, then go into your cocoon.

I have noted that many elected officials, both Democrats and Republicans, called upon America  to unite behind Obama.  

Well, I want to make it clear to all who will listen that I AM NOT uniting behind Obama!

I have begun today to see what I can do to make sure that He is a one-term President!

I do not share his view  that the military should be reduced by 25%;  

I do not share his view of amnesty and giving more to illegals than American Citizens who need help;  

I do not share his views  on homosexuality and his definition of marriage;

I do not share his views that Radical Islam is our friend and  Israel  is our enemy who should give up any land;

I do not share his  spiritual beliefs (at least the ones he has made public);

I do not share his beliefs on how to re-work the healthcare system in  America  ;

I do not share his Strategic views of the Middle East, and certainly do not share his plan to sit down with terrorist regimes such as Iran .

Bottom line, my America is vastly different from Obama's, and I have a higher obligation to my Country and my God to do what is Right!

For eight (8) years, the Liberals in our Society, led by numerous entertainers who would have no platform and no real credibility but for their celebrity status, have attacked President Bush, his family, and his spiritual beliefs!  

They have not moved toward the center in their beliefs and their philosophies, and they never came together nor compromised their personal beliefs for the betterment of our Country!  They have  portrayed my  America  as a land where everything is tolerated except being intolerant!

They have been a vocal and irreverent minority for years; they have mocked and attacked the very core values so important to the founding and growth of our Country!  

They have made every effort to remove the name of God or Jesus Christ from our Society!  They have challenged capital punishment, the right to bear firearms, and the most basic principles of our criminal code; they have attacked one of the most fundamental of all Freedoms, the right of free speech!

Unite behind Obama?  Never!

I am sure many of you who read this think that I am going overboard, but I refuse to retreat one more inch in favor of those whom I believe are the embodiment of Evil!

PRESIDENT BUSH made many mistakes during his Presidency, and I am not sure how history will judge him.

However, I believe that he weighed his decisions in light  of the long established Judeo-Christian principles of our Founding Fathers!!!

Majority rules in America , and I will honor the concept; however, I will fight with all of my power to be a voice in opposition to Obama and "his goals for  America ."

I am going to be a thorn in the side of those who, if left unchecked, will destroy our Country!!  Any more compromise is more defeat!

I pray that the results of this election will wake up many who have sat on the sidelines and allowed the Socialist-Marxist anti-God crowd to slowly change so much of what has been good in  America !

Oh what do I know? I like Republicans and John McCain is only 8 years older than my old hubby. But hey I really liked Sarah Palin. Shows you how out of the loop I am. What about the governors of Minnesota or Louisiana? No, not the female embarrassment during Hurricane Katrina, I mean Bobby Jindal.  Oh those states need their people to improve things for their own residents.

Now I do think McCain is a war hero but wasn't sure about him being president. Well, Indiana went Democrat in November so my vote didn't count anyway. We haven't done that since Johnson, an ugly mistake that was.

Does history repeat? Well, don't drink the Kool-Aid and don't look back unless turning to salt sounds like a fun thing to do.

And Joe the Plumber asked, "Are you kidding me? You're going to steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??" 

And "The One" ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe's personal records were hacked and publicized.

One lone reporter asked, "Isn't that Marxist policy?"  And she was banished from the kingdom!

Then a citizen asked, "With no foreign relations experience and having zero military experience or knowledge, how will you deal with radical terrorists?"  

And "The One" said, "Simple. I shall sit with them and talk with them and show them how nice we really are; and they will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!"  

And the people said, "Hallelujah!! We are safe at last, and we can beat our weapons into free cars for the people!"

Then "The One" said, "I shall give 95% of you lower taxes."  

And one, lone voice said, "But 40% of us don't pay ANY taxes."

So "The One" said, "Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!"

And the people said, "Hallelujah!! Show us the money!"

Then "The One" said, "I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell your homes!" 

And the people yawned and the slumping housing market collapsed. 

And He said, "I shall mandate employer-funded health care for EVERY worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every person unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the clinics." 

And the people said, "Give me some of that!"

Then he said, "I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas."  

And the people said, "Where's my rebate check?"

Then "The One" said, "I shall bankrupt the coal industry and electricity rates will skyrocket!" 

And the people said, "Coal is dirty, coal is evil, no more coal! But we don't care for that part about higher electric rates." 

So "The One" said, "Not to worry. If your rebate isn't enough to cover your expenses, we shall bail you out. Just sign up with ACORN and your troubles are over!"

Then He said, "Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let's grant them amnesty,  Social Security, free education, free lunches, free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing..."  

And the people said, "Hallelujah!!" And they made him King!

And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto a rock dropped from a cliff. The banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support.

Then "The One" said, "I am the "The One" - The Messiah - and I'm here to save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have enough!" 

But our foreign trading partners said unto Him, "Wait a minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have to pay more..."  

And the people said, "Wait a minute. That is unfair!!" 

And the world said, "Neither are these other idiotic programs you have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!"

And the people cried out, "Alas, alas!! What have we done?"  

But yea verily, it was too late. The people set upon "The One" and spat upon him and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once mighty nation was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or shelter or hope. And the Change "The One" had given them was as like unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that consumed all that they had built. 

And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish, "Give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!"  But it was too late, and their homeland was no more.

You may think this is a fairy tale, but it's not.

I had a doctor’s appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found something very interesting I would like to pass along…  While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked three questions:
(1. Did I feel stressed?) 
(2. Did I feel threatened?)
(3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone?) 

I answered No to all three.

The nurse then informed me, if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security. 

I am a Viet Nam vet and 15 year concealed carry permit holder.

Dr. Virend Somers, a cardiologist from the Mayo Clinic who is lead author of the report in the July 29, 2008 issue of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.

Most heart attacks occur in the day, generally between 6 a.m. and noon, Somers said. Having one during the night, when the heart should be most at rest, means that something unusual happened, he said. Somers and his colleagues have been working for a decade to show that sleep apnea is to blame.

This is plain stupid! –

From today's "you couldn't make it up if you tried" file.......Obama's protectors have ordered graduating Midshipmen....and  I suppose Commissioned Officers through Flag rank...to leave their swords at home.  Full Dress White includes "wear sword".  More to the point...those badges of office have been earned in a manner Obongo and his minions just wouldn't begin to understand.  Important traditions that inspire are kind of lost on the red banner crowd, apparently.

Further, ceremonial swords never seemed to bother the Secret Service for any previous President.  And before World War II, the swords were not particularly "ceremonial", I've seen some of those blades, boarding actions did occur on the China Station pre-war against river pirates, warlords, etc.  Those swords were worn not just to graduation, but to Inaugurations, in the receiving line at the White House afterward, to the Inaugural Ball.   Somehow nobody gave it a second thought.  Somehow even Presidents in the past didn't presume to specify items of uniform.  

But of course, what worked for Harry Truman, Ronald Reagan, F.D.R., the Bushes, T.R., any other rational non-cult leader.....doesn't work for this former state senator anointed by the Chicago machine.

Does he secretly consider our Naval and Military leaders "the enemy"?  Perhaps the message this sends escaped his handlers. Sad.  And .....follow me on this Obama and minions.....insulting.  Actually it's contemptible.

A BUCKET OF SHRIMP..........GREAT, GREAT STORY AND TRUE

   It happened every Friday evening, almost without fail, when the sun resembled a giant orange and was starting to dip into the blue ocean. 

Old Ed came strolling along the beach to his favorite pier.  Clutched in his bony hand was a bucket of shrimp.  Ed walks out to the end of the pier, where it seems he almost has the world to himself.  The glow of the sun is a golden bronze now.  

Everybody's gone, except for a few joggers on the beach.  Standing out on the end of the pier, Ed is alone with his thoughts...and his bucket of shrimp. 

Before long, however, he is no longer alone.  Up in the sky a thousand white dots come screeching and squawking, winging their way toward that lanky frame standing there on the end of the pier.. 

Before long, dozens of seagulls have enveloped him, their wings fluttering and flapping wildly.  Ed stands there tossing shrimp to the hungry birds.  As he does, if you listen closely, you can hear him say with a smile, 'Thank you.  Thank you.' 

In a few short minutes the bucket is empty.  But Ed doesn't leave. 

He stands there lost in thought, as though transported to another time and place.  Invariably, one of the gulls lands on his sea-bleached, weather-beaten hat - an old military hat he's been wearing for years. 

When he finally turns around and begins to walk back toward the beach, a few of the birds hop along the pier with him until he gets to the stairs, and then they, too, fly away.  And old Ed quietly makes his way down to the end of the beach and on home. 

If you were sitting there on the pier with your fishing line in the water, Ed might seem like 'a funny old duck,' as my dad used to say.  Or, 'a guy that's a sandwich shy of a picnic,' as my kids might say.   To onlookers, he's just another old codger, lost in his own weird world, feeding the seagulls with a bucket full of shrimp. 

To the onlooker, rituals can look either very strange or very empty.  They can seem altogether unimportant ....maybe even a lot of nonsense. 

Old folks often do strange things, at least in the eyes of Boomers and Busters. 

Most of them would probably write Old Ed off, down there in Florida .. That's too bad. They'd do well to know him better. 

His full name:  Eddie Rickenbacker.  He was a famous hero back in World War II.  On one of his flying missions across the Pacific, he and his seven-member crew went down.  Miraculously, all of the men survived, crawled out of their plane, and climbed into a life raft. 

Captain Rickenbacker and his crew floated for days on the rough waters of the Pacific.  They fought the sun.  They fought sharks.  Most of all, they fought hunger.  By the eighth day their rations ran out. No food..  No water.  They were hundreds of miles from land and no one knew where they were. 

They needed a miracle.  That afternoon they had a simple devotional service and prayed for a miracle.  They tried to nap.  Eddie leaned back and pulled his military cap over his nose.  Time dragged.  All he could hear was the slap of the waves against the raft. 

Suddenly, Eddie felt something land on the top of his cap.  It was a seagull! 

Old Ed would later describe how he sat perfectly still, planning his next move.  With a flash of his hand and a squawk from the gull, he managed to grab it and wring its neck.  He tore the feathers off, and he and his starving crew made a meal - a very slight meal for eight men - of it.  Then they used the intestines for bait.  With it, they caught fish, which gave them food and more bait......and the cycle continued.  With that simple survival technique, they were able to endure the rigors of the sea until they were found and rescued (after 24 days at sea...).   

Eddie Rickenbacker lived many years beyond that ordeal, but he never forgot the sacrifice of that first lifesaving seagull.  And he never stopped saying, 'Thank you.'  That's why almost every Friday night he would walk to the end of the pier with a bucket full of shrimp and a heart full of gratitude.

Eddie was also an Ace in WW I and started Eastern Airlines. 

I think we can all learn something from these 5 lessons.  If you cannot, perhaps you need to look in the mirror!

Five  (5) lessons to make you think about the way we treat people.

1. - First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady.

During  my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop  quiz. I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions until I read the last one:

"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the cleaning woman several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50s, but how would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question blank. Just before class ended, one student asked if the last question would count toward our quiz grade.

"Absolutely," said the professor. "In your careers, you will meet many people. All are significant.  They deserve your attention and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello."

I've never forgotten that lesson. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

2. - Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American woman was standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a lashing rainstorm. Her car had

broken down and she desperately needed a ride. Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car.

A young white man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled 1960's. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his home.  A special note was attached..

It read:

"Thank you  so much for assisting me on the highway the other night. The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you came along.

Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's bedside just before he passed away...  God bless you for helping me and unselfishly serving others."

3 - Third Important Lesson - Always remember those who serve.

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, a 10-year-old boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.

"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.

"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled is hand out of his pocket and studied the coins in it.

"Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he inquired.

By now more people were waiting for a table and the waitress was growing impatient.

"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins.

"I'll have the plain ice cream," he said.

The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left. When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and five pennies..

You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough left to leave her a tip.

4  - Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path.

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some of the king's wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply walked around it. Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did anything about getting the stone out of the way.

Then a peasant came along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of the road. After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed the boulder from the roadway.  The peasant learned what many of us never understand!

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

5 - Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts

Many years ago, when I worked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare & serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister.

I saw him hesitate for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if it will save her."

As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale and his smile faded.

He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die right away?"

Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her.

Another Irish Tale

Here's a political (certainly not an "apolitical") observation as only an Irishman can make it!  Hyperbole (and ad hominem comments) aside, for sake of our country's future, I hope he's off the mark.  Further, I hope that our President will demonstrate a return to the conservative principles upon which our forefathers founded this great Nation, and that our citizenry will awaken, reassess their role in our current situation, take a measure of our current situation and demand that he do so.   For only if the voters speak, will Mr. Obama listen.

For centuries, Ireland has  graced the world with poets, writers, and musicians - from W.B. Yeats to Phil  Lynott to Seamus Heaney - who made us giggle, cry, croon, and swoon, sometimes  in the same sentence.  

Then again, for every James Joyce, there are thousands of Cliff Clavins - half-wits who, like the Cheers character, regale us with useless information that might be accurate, though you wouldn't bet your paycheck on it. But they serve a steaming crock o' blarney that's more entertaining than a Leprechaun with his shoes on fire. So we listen and laugh into the wee hours.  And we buy them another Guinness.  

But once in a while, one of these storytellers rises from the prattle, ascending upon lofty lexis, splendiferous manner, and scintillating oratory. This master of blather may arrive at a perch so unsupported by the evidence that we are astounded. Didn't anyone check? Of course not. When the whiskey is flowing, nobody stops a great story.   

So where do we find the latest of the famed Irish tall-tale-tellers? Who regales us with such panache that the world overlooks his phony resume? Ring the doorbell at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., and ask for Barack "The Crock" O'Bama.   

Apparently, Fulmuth Kearney, Obama's great-great-great-grandfather sailed for America from a fair Irish town whose very name, Moneygall, offers a pair of magnificent double meanings. One of his descendants married a Kenyan and begat the messiah himself. Lucky us!  

True to his Irish heritage, Obama has spent a lifetime offering perhaps the greatest list of astounding shams ever told:  

My grandpa marched with Patton.

The Kennedys paid for my dad to come to America.

I was conceived during the Selma riots, registered for the draft, worked my way through law school, became a constitutional lawyer, and wasn't interested in politics.   
I passed welfare-to-work laws and gave medical benefits to veterans.

I never heard Jeremiah Wright's racist rants and barely knew William Ayers.

Tony Rezko? Some guy who coincidentally bought the lot next door to my house.   
I'm a capitalist.

I am/am not against free trade, gun control, and single-payer  health care.

I never take money from or hire lobbyists.

I'll halt all military  operations in Iraq by 2010.

The surge? Still hasn't worked.  
Every economist on Earth agrees we should spend our way into oblivion, which will create four million new jobs and give tax cuts to 95 percent of Americans  while reducing the national debt.

What earmarks?   

Wow. Could Oscar Wilde himself have dreamt up such glorious fiction?  

But we rarely challenge a storyteller in the middle of a good one. Maybe we just like a good yarn - and not just in politics. Bernie Madoff, Ken Lay, David Koresh - all should have been beaten with a shillelagh. Instead, fools surrendered their money, their dignity, and their lives. They simply heard what they wanted to hear.   

This time, though, we didn't fall for a mere bard with a little Irish in him. Drunk with lazy boredom, brewed with freedom long removed from challenge, America elevated a master word-slinger to the top of the world, based on nothing more than a pile of teleprompter tales.  

We voted for the best storyteller in the bar. Oh, well, at closing time, who knows the  difference?

My liberal friends were right.

I have to admit it. My liberal friends were right.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the nation's Hope would deteriorate, and sure enough there has been a 20 point drop in the Consumer Confidence Index since the election, reaching a lower point than any time during the Bush administration.

They told me if I voted for McCain, the US would become more deeply embroiled in the Middle East, and sure enough tens of thousands of additional troops are scheduled to be deployed into Afghanistan.

They told me if I voted for McCain, that the economy would get worse and sure enough unemployment is approaching 8.8% and the new stimulus packages implemented recently have sent the stock market lower than at any time since 1995.

They told me if I voted for McCain, we would see more "crooks" in high ranking positions in Federal government and sure enough, several recent cabinet nominees and Senate appointments revealed resumes of bribery and tax fraud, and two senior democrat congressmen were responsible for much of the economic collapse.

Well I ignored my Democrat friends in November and voted for McCain. And they were right... all of their predictions have come true...

A LETTER TO THE EMPLOYEES

There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of this company and, more specifically, your job. As you know, the economy has changed for the worse and presents many challenges. However, the good news is this:

The economy doesn't pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job, however, is the changing political landscape in this country. That being said, let me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help you decide what is in your best interests.

First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts employers against employees, you have to understand that for every business owner there is a back story. This back story is often neglected and overshadowed by what you see and hear. Sure, you see me park my Mercedes outside. You've seen my big home at last year's Christmas party. I'm sure all these flashy icons of luxury conjure up some idealized thoughts about my life. However, what you don't see is the back story.

I started this company 28 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 300 square foot studio apartment for 3 years. My entire living apartment was converted into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company -- which, by the way, would eventually employ you.

My diet consisted of Ramen Pride noodles because every dollar I spent went back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a defective transmission. I didn't have time to date. Often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business, to hard work, discipline, and sacrifice.

Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a modest $50K a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. Instead of hitting the Nordstrom's for the latest hot fashion item, I was trolling through the discount store extracting any clothing item that didn't look like it was birthed in the 70's. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into a business with a vision that eventually, some day, I too will be able to afford these luxuries my friends supposedly had.

So, while you physically arrive at the office at 9am, mentally check in at about noon, and then leave at 5pm, I don't. There is no "off" button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have that freedom. I eat, sleep and breathe this company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this business is attached to my hip like a 1 year old special-needs child. You, of course, only see the fruits of that garden -- the nice house, the Mercedes, the vacations -- and never realize the back story and the sacrifices I've made.

Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the right decisions and saved his money, have to bail out all the people who didn't. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed a decade of my life for.

Yes, business ownership has is benefits, but the price I've paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the cost of running this business, and employing you, is starting to eclipse the threshold of marginal benefit and let me tell you why:

I am being taxed to death and the government thinks I don't pay enough. I have state taxes. Federal taxes. Property taxes. Sales and use taxes. Payroll taxes. Workers compensation taxes. Unemployment taxes. Taxes on taxes. I have to hire a tax man to manage all these taxes and then guess what? I have to pay taxes for employing him. Government mandates and regulations and all the accounting that goes with it, now occupy most of my time. On Oct 15th, I wrote a check to the US Treasury for $288,000 for quarterly taxes. You know what my "stimulus" check was? Zero. Nada. Zilch.

The question I have is this: Who is stimulating the economy? Me, the guy who has provided 14 people good paying jobs and serves over 2,200,000 people per year with a flourishing business, or the single mother sitting at home pregnant with her fourth child by the fourth father waiting for her next welfare check? Obviously, government feels the latter is the economic stimulus of this country.

The fact is, if I deducted (or stole) 50 percent of your paycheck you'd quit and you wouldn't work here. I mean, why should you? That's nuts. Who wants to get rewarded for only 50 percent of their hard work?

Well, I agree, and that is why your job is in jeopardy. Here is what many of you don't understand ... to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Had suddenly government mandated to me that I didn't need to pay taxes, guess what? Instead of depositing that $288,000 into the Washington black hole, I would have spent it, hired more employees, and generated substantial economic growth. My employees would have enjoyed the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries.

When you have a comatose man on the verge of death, you don't defibrillate and shock his thumb thinking that will bring him back to life, do you? Or, do you defibrillate his heart? Business is at the heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate it, not kill it. Suddenly, the power brokers in Washington believe the poor of America are the essential drivers of the American economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change you can keep.

So where am I going with all this? It's quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, my reaction will be swift and simple.

I fire you. I fire your co-workers. You can then plead with the government to pay for your mortgage, your SUV, and your child's future. Frankly, it isn't my problem any more. Then, I will close this company down, move to another country, and retire. You see, I'm done. I'm done with a country that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, will be my citizenship.

So, if you lose your job, it won't be at the hands of the economy; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country, steamrolled the Constitution, and will have changed its landscape forever. If that happens, you can find me sitting on a beach, retired, and with no employees to worry about.

In doing some research about this I noticed one blogger's opinion was in these days of downsizing perhaps Michelle's position was cut from the budget. Yes, usually when you have laid all the groundwork for the intention that it was meant to be, it is often downsized. Their was proof the Acorn Group was succeeding in their intentional work plan during the election period. And it worked. For all you Obama fans and those that voted for him, please prove me wrong and soon as I know to many people suffering or soon will be suffering. Before you write back and tell me poor little Barack Hussein Obama inherited the Bush Administration problem, ask yourself what all the Democrats in the House and Senate were doing before the Bush administration ended. Now where were Dodd and Frank when the banks and mortgages companies were in trouble? When did they report this to President Bush???????

At the top right hand corner of Page 17 of the New York Post of January 24th, 2009, was a short column entitled "Replacing Michelle" in the National Review "The Week" column. I found this interesting, so here it is, word for word, as it appeared a few days ago......

'Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama: The University of Chicago Medical center hired her in 2002 to run "programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer recruitment, staff diversity and minority contracting."

In 2005 the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317,000 - nearly twice what her husband made as a Senator.

Oh did we mention that her husband had just become a US Senator? He sure had. Requested a $1 Million earmark for the UC Medical Center, in fact. Way to network Michelle!

But now that Mrs. Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position will remain unfilled. How can that be, if the work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000?

We can think of only one explanation: Senator Roland Burris's wife wasn't interested.

I am not trying to be racially biased but when people born and raised in this country are out of work, we need to remember charity begins at home. It is not just the Mexican people, we have many more people of other nationalities living here and taking jobs. I also feel congress needs to do something to help people be able to afford to live on the current minimum wage or increase it. Many people take unemployment as it often pays more than say working at Mcdonald's. Bring our jobs back and watch how many qualified people will be very willing to work. Perhaps we should start a group of unemployed people and then ask for a bailout. Also people living on social security and disability insurance from the social security funds, have to pay taxes on that money. Now especially, the retired social security people, didn't we already pay taxes on that money once? Could this be double taxation? Something is very wrong with this picture. So minds greater than mine need to find a solution and fast.

Sounds like Round Up Time To Me! A great way to lower unemployment!

Here is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around. I didn't know of this until it was pointed out to me.
Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American citizens that desperately needed work.
 
Harry Truman deported over two million Illegals after WWII to create jobs for returning veterans.
 
And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million Mexican nationals!
 
The program was called 'Operation Wetback' so that American WWII and Korean veterans had a better chance at jobs. It took 2 Years, but they deported them!
 
Now, if they could deport the illegals back then, they can sure do it today!!

Apparently this is TRUE.  A quick check of the VA web site resulted in the two bottom documents (following the article below), which you can research farther if the situation applies to you or anyone you know. I thought I was reasonably familiar with veteran's benefits, but I had never heard of this one.  Which reaffirms my long-standing conviction that there are numerous benefits, federal and state, out there which people just don't know about.  Hope this is helpful...............

Those who serve during conflict are eligible for up to $19,000 a year

A little-known veterans' benefit for long-term care expenses is available to wartime veterans and their spouses. But the benefit is being overlooked by thousands of families, industry observers say.

The Special Pension for Veterans' Aid and Attendance pays up to $1,644 a month, $19,736 annually, toward assisted living, nursing homes or in-home care for veterans 65 and older who served at least 90 days and one day during wartime - stateside or overseas.Veterans and their spouses can receive up to $23,396 annually and spouses of deceased veterans, $12,681.

Yet, an estimated $22 billion a year goes unclaimed, said Don Soard, a volunteer with Operation Veteran Aid in Oklahoma City. In 2007, only 134,000 seniors nationwide received the benefit, which was established in 1952.

"Literally hundreds of thousands don't even know about it," Soard said. "Due to incomplete information, many disqualify themselves on income or assets or find the paperwork too burdensome."

Streamlined process

Soard helps families complete the necessary forms, so that approval comes in four to six months. The process is streamlined for vets who are blind or have memory issues and widows with medical needs, he said. Most applicants qualify and payments are retroactive, Soard said. The few who are denied on excessive liquid assets can seek financial advice to qualify, he said.

Soard started his volunteer mission two years ago, following the deaths of two family members who served in WWII.

"If they'd known about this benefit, they'd have a much better quality of life in later years," he said. "Without it, many vets are forced to go on Medicaid."

Oklahoma is one of nine states where the welfare program doesn't cover assisted living costs. Assisted living often can be an alternative to a nursing home when 24-hour skilled care is not an absolute need, said Willie Ferguson, executive director of Legend at Rivendell in Oklahoma City .

"But if someone just has Social Security and a small pension, it's not enough to live here,"  Ferguson said.

According to a 2008 MetLife survey, assisted living in  Oklahoma averages $2,346 a month, while nursing homes cost $153 a day for a private room.

Of 73 Legend residents, nine receive the veterans' special pension, including Tom Bowen, 77, of  Moore .

"Until I toured this operation, I had no idea the benefit was available," said Bowen, a retired engineer technician from the Federal Aviation Administration who served stateside during the Korean Conflict.

Bowen recently moved into the Legend facility following several mini strokes and a diagnosis of short-term memory loss.

"It's been pretty hard trying to handle expenses on my own and being able to replace savings," said Marie Bowen, his wife of 57 years. Finding a nearby facility and learning about the special veterans' pension has been a godsend, she said.

“Aid and Attendance” an Under-Used Benefit
WASHINGTON – The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is reaching out to inform wartime veterans and surviving spouses of deceased wartime veterans about an under-used, special monthly pension benefit called Aid and Attendance.
“Veterans have earned this benefit by their service to our nation,” said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Jim Nicholson.  “We want to ensure that every veteran or surviving spouse who qualifies has the chance to apply.”
Although this is not a new program, not everyone is aware of his or her potential eligibility.  The Aid and Attendance pension benefit may be available to wartime veterans and surviving spouses who have in-home care or who live in nursing-homes or assisted-living facilities.
Many elderly veterans and surviving spouses whose incomes are above the congressionally mandated legal limit for a VA pension may still be eligible for the special monthly Aid and Attendance benefit if they have large medical expenses, including nursing home expenses, for which they do not receive reimbursement.
To qualify, claimants must be incapable of self support and in need of regular personal assistance. 
The basic criteria for the Aid and Attendance benefit include the inability to feed oneself, to dress and undress without assistance, or to take care of one’s own bodily needs.  People who are bedridden or need help to adjust special prosthetic or orthopedic devices may also be eligible, as well as those who have a physical or mental injury or illness that requires regular assistance to protect them from hazards or dangers in their daily environment.

For a wartime veteran or surviving spouse to qualify for this special monthly pension, the veteran must have served at least 90 days of active military service, one day of which was during a period of war, and be discharged under conditions other than dishonorable. 
Wartime veterans who entered active duty on or after September 8, 1980, (October 16, 1981, for officers) must have completed at least 24 continuous months of military service or the period for which they were ordered to active duty.
If all requirements are met, VA determines eligibility for the Aid and Attendance benefit by adjusting for un-reimbursed medical expenses from the veteran’s or surviving spouse’s total household income.  If the remaining income amount falls below the annual income threshold for the Aid and Attendance benefit, VA pays the difference between the claimant’s household income and the Aid and Attendance threshold.
The Aid and Attendance income threshold for a veteran without dependents is now $18,234 annually.  The threshold increases to $21,615 if a veteran has one dependent, and by $1,866 for each additional dependent.  The annual Aid and Attendance threshold for a surviving spouse alone is $11,715.  This threshold increases to $13,976 if there is one dependent child, and by $1,866 for each additional child.

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY

In  Florida , an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and Passover holy days.  He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case against Christians, Jews and observances of their holy days. The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized days.

The case was brought before a judge. 

After listening to the passionate presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring,"Case dismissed!"

The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor, how can you possibly dismiss this case?  The Christians have Christmas, Easter and others.  The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet my

client and all other atheists have no such holidays."

The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do.  Your client, counsel, is woefully ignorant."

The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance or holiday for atheists."

The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day. Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.'

Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is no God, then he is a fool.  Therefore, April 1st is his day. 

Court is adjourned.

 You gotta love a Judge that knows his scripture!
