On Wings Of Nuts

Ya
gotta love how the media grabs any chance to sound relevant these days. One of the features I have always loved
about listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio is his occasional “media
montages” where he will play clips of various media heavyweights using
identical language to describe a situation or particular person. That is just great entertainment right
there! I guess it has made me more
aware of how much copycatting goes on in media outlets these days.
We need to be on the lookout for the repetition of a term now used to describe any conservative in politics who is opposed to raising the debt ceiling. In the last few days, the term that seems to be “sticking” is “wingnut.”
That
one really took a brain trust to think of it, huh? Obviously, someone who doesn’t understand or appreciate the
mechanics or value of wingnutism decided it was an apt description. Okay, so I made up the term, wingnutism –
but somebody thought that it would be a good idea to apply the term, wingnut,
to anyone who holds “extreme” political views, (I really don’t know how long
ago, or whether it has ever been used to describe liberals, who are a
continuing string of “extreme political views.”)
Raise
your hand if you even know what a real wingnut is.
Don’t
worry. This is an educational site, but
I will leave you to search out wingnut for yourself. Suffice it to say, I have always found the little critters to be
quite useful! The main advantage of a
wingnut is that you do not need a tool to tighten or loosen it. (That’s why it has “wings.”)
Just
in case you are still in the dark, although I doubt it, reading this
article
inspired my writing something about it.
All
I know is that at a time when so many Americans are floundering in economic and
personal crisis due to policies pursued by an overbearing government, the last
thing our “representatives” should consider doing is opening the purse strings
even wider to finance more government abuse!
If they want to continue making a mockery of the fact that they are
supposed to actually represent us and act in our best interest, then you can
expect that debt ceiling to go up, up, up.
But IF we have elected enough people with the courage and commitment to
do the job they were elected to do, and honor the oath they took to defend the
Constitution, then now is the time for them to snap those purse strings closed!
I
guess time will tell.
Meanwhile,
I fully expect the media and the oh-so-smart elites to try to fly their message
on wings of nuts about how dumb we all are about economic policy, if we think
that government spending should have an end to it!
With
wasteful spending, like this, government is the last entity that needs a
never-ending supply of our money.
